NEPRA Approves Rs.3.39 Per Unit Additional Surcharge on Electricity Bills

ISLAMABAD: The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority on Monday allowed the application of 3.39 rupees per unit additional surcharge to be recovered from the consumers of XWAPDA distribution companies and K-Electric for March to June 2023.

According to a notification from NEPRA, the additional surcharge of 3.39 rupees per unit shall be reduced to 1 rupee per unit to cover the additional markup charges of Pakistan Holding Limited loans; thus, the total surcharge shall become 1.43 rupees per unit for the Financial Year 2023-24.

NEPRA allows DISCOs to receive additional surcharge

The regulator company allowed the DISCOs to receive additional 1.43 rupees per unit from July 2023 to June 2024. Now, the consumers pay 43 paisa per unit additional surcharge.

The total additional surcharge will surge to 3.82 rupees per unit with the addition of 3.39 rupees per unit. 3.82 rupees per unit have raised the rate for consumers using 300 to 700 units and commercial consumers.
