NEPRA Issued 1,596 Net-Metering Licenses in FY-2023/24

ISLAMABAD: During the fiscal year 2022-23, the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) issued a total of 1,596 Net-Metering licenses, amounting to a combined capacity of 221.05 megawatts (MW) across Pakistan.

According to official figures, the breakdown of net-metering licenses issued by NEPRA includes 136 licenses for consumers of Islamabad Electric Supply Company (IESCO), 331 for Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO), 44 for Peshawar Electric Supply Company (PESCO), 116 for Gujranwala Electric Power Company (GEPCO), and 183 for Faisalabad Electric Supply Company (FESCO).

Similarly, 458 net-metering licenses were granted to consumers of K-Electric, 292 for Multan Electric Power Supply Company (MEPCO), 25 for Hyderabad Electric Supply Company, 6 for Sukkur Electric Supply Company (SEPCO), and 3 for Quetta Electric Supply Company (SEPCO) during the specified period.

Additionally, NEPRA revoked four generation licenses upon request from the licensees. These included Ramazan Sugar Mills Limited, Al-Arabia Sugar Mills Limited, Digri-Gen Limited, and Shams Power (Pvt.) Limited.
