ISLAMABAD: Under the monthly fuel cost adjustment (FCA) mechanism, the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) announced on Wednesday a Rs 1.81 per unit rise in electricity rates for customers of all power distribution companies (DISCOs) for June.

In its petition to the power regulator, the Central Power Purchasing Agency (CPPPA-G) requested an increase of Rs 1.88 per unit for the specified time on behalf of XWAPDA DISCOs, according to a notification issued here.

On July 26, the Authority held a public hearing to consider the petition. Chairman NEPRA Tauseef H Farooqi chaired the session. The August billing period would see the rise. It applies to all customers except for KE, lifeline, and charging stations for electric vehicles. In comparison to May, the June FCA is nine pence lower. —APP
