NEPRA Notifies Rs 1.90 per unit Increase for DISCO Consumers

ISLAMABAD: Under the monthly fuel cost adjustment (FCA) mechanism, the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) announced on Thursday a Rs 1.90 per unit rise in electricity rates for consumers of all power distribution companies (DISCOs) for May.

In its plea to the electricity regulator, the Central Power Purchasing Agency (CPPPA-G), on behalf of XWAPDA DISCOs, requested an increase of Rs 2.5 per unit for the specified period, according to a notification released here. On July 5, the Authority held a public hearing to consider the petition, presided over by Chairman NEPRA Tauseef H Farooqi.

The increase would take effect in July’s billing month. It will apply to all consumers except electrical vehicle charging stations, lifelines, and KE. —APP
