NEPRA Notifies Rs 4.92 Per Unit Hike in Electricity Tariff

ISLAMABAD: The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) notified a hike of Rs4.92 per unit under monthly fuel adjustment on Monday.

The power regulatory body increased the price for February which would be charged to the consumers from the bills of this month.

The NEPRA has issued a notification in this regard according to which the increase would not be applicable to consumers of K-Electric and Lifeline.

Earlier on March 28, the power regulatory body approved a hike of Rs2.75 in the electricity tariff applicable from April across the country under fuel price adjustment.

NEPRA Forwards Decision to Federal Government

NEPRA forwarded its decision to the federal government for notifying the increase in the power tariff.

After the notification, the new tariff would be in effect for the next three months, imposing a considerable burden on consumers amounting to 85.2 billion rupees.

The decision was made with NEPRA’s approval of the financial year 2023–24 second-quarter adjustment. Distribution Companies (Discos) requested a higher hike of 4.43 rupees per unit; however, NEPRA decided to go with the Rs2.75 increase.
