ISLAMABAD: Earlier in the week, Israel’s Supreme Court ordered the country’s premier to remove a minister who had been convicted recently of tax fraud. On Sunday, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu fired Ayreh Deri from his ministerial roles thus adhering to the ruling.

The move has helped Netanyahu, who himself is facing corruption charges, to stave off a head-on tussle with the judiciary.

Netanyahu decides to follow the court ruling

By complying with the court’s ruling to remove the minister, Aryeh Deri, Mr. Netanyahu avoided an instant, head-on clash with the judiciary. The new government has planned to overhaul the judiciary prompting Israelis to take to the streets.

On Saturday night, as many as 130,000 protesters staged rallies in Tel Aviv and other cities as per Israeli media sources.

Netanyahu in a read-out at a parliamentary stated his feelings regarding his move to remove Deri from his roles in the cabinet.

He stated that with a very difficult feeling, great sorrow, and heavy heart he had to remove Deri from his position.

Netanyahu added he would look for legal means so that Deri would be able to serve the state of Israel with his skills and great experience.
