TEL AVIV, Israel: Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu appears hopeful for Donald Trump’s re-election, anticipating greater freedom to address escalating regional conflicts.
Analysts say Netanyahu’s experience with Trump’s isolationist policies, marked by moves like relocating the U.S. embassy to Jerusalem and sanctioning Iran, contrasts with the tougher stance from current Democratic leadership.
While Trump’s approach included decisive, pro-Israel actions—such as encouraging Israeli sovereignty in disputed regions—his policies also come with unpredictability.
Despite this, Trump remains popular among Israelis, with a recent poll showing 68% see him as favorable for Israel’s interests, in contrast to just 14% for Kamala Harris.

On the Palestinian side, however, there is skepticism toward both U.S. candidates, with many feeling the American political landscape offers no substantial change for Palestinians.
Some Palestinian voices express concerns about U.S. policies historically favoring Israel, casting doubt on the prospect of significant improvements regardless of the election outcome.
Thus, Netanyahu’s stance underscores a broader regional sentiment, where Trump’s potential win is seen as an opportunity for Israel to act more independently amid its growing security concerns.
