AMSTERDAM, Netherland: The Netherlands has announced plans to deliver the first batch of F-16 fighter jets to Ukraine, fulfilling a commitment to bolster Ukraine’s air defences in the face of escalating tensions with Russia.
Defence Minister Kajsa Ollongren confirmed that the necessary permits have been granted for the delivery, although specifics such as the number of jets and exact timing remain undisclosed for security reasons.
This move underscores the Netherlands’ active role within an international coalition aimed at supporting Ukraine’s military capabilities.
Earlier efforts included training Ukrainian personnel in Romania to operate and maintain the F-16s effectively in combat scenarios.
