SUKKUR, Pakistan: At least eight people – including three women and two children – were killed while two others sustained serious injuries Saturday after their car collided with a truck near Guddu Interchange on the Multan-Sukkur Motorway, according to rescue officials.

The media reports said the speeding car collided with a trailer, resulting in the loss of eight lives. The ill-fated car with 10 family members on board was on its way from Sukkur to Mureed Shakh. Amongst them were a newly-wed couple, who had got married just two days ago. They were going to visit the groom’s in-laws along with other family members. The bride lost her life while the groom sustained injuries in the collision.

According to the Motorway Police, the accident was the result of excessive speed and driver’s negligence. Rescue teams and police reached the spot and shifted the deceased and injured to a nearby hospital.
