ISLAMABAD: Unidentified gunmen in southeastern Iran, near the Pakistan border, killed nine Pakistanis, local media reported on Saturday.
The attack occurred in the Sirkan neighborhood of Saravan city in Sistan-Baluchistan province. According to reports, no individual or group, as of now, has claimed responsibility for the incident.
Pakistan Ambassador to Iran Mudassir Tipu has confirmed the killing of 9 Pakistanis and strongly condemned the unfortunate incident.
Demanding a comprehensive investigation into the incident, he said that the Pakistani embassy in Tehran will provide full assistance to the grieving families.

He mentioned that the Pakistan embassy officials visited the site of the incident and went to the hospital to meet the injured.

On the other hand, the relatives of the 9 Pakistanis killed in Iran mentioned that the deceased Pakistanis were working as laborers in Iran.
It should be noted that a few days ago, Iran had hit a house in the border region of Panjgur in Baluchistan, leaving several dead. Pakistan carried out effective strikes against hideouts in Iran used by terrorists responsible for attacks in Pakistan in early hours of 18 January 2024, ISPR said.
