ISLAMABAD: The Foreign Office of Pakistan has responded to statements made by various countries and organizations regarding the general elections in the country, stating that some of these remarks were inaccurate.

In a Press release on Saturday, the Foreign Office clarified that there was no nationwide internet shutdown during the elections; rather, only mobile services were temporarily suspended to prevent potential terrorist incidents on polling day.

These claims disregard the fact that Pakistan has effectively and peacefully conducted general elections despite significant security risks, the majority of which are the result of foreign-sponsored terrorism.

The Press release emphasized that the conduct of the elections demonstrated that many concerns expressed by commentators were unfounded. While acknowledging constructive advice from international partners, the Foreign Office criticized negative commentary made before the completion of the electoral process, deeming it unconstructive and lacking objectivity.

Asserting Pakistan’s commitment to fostering a vibrant democratic system, the Foreign Office affirmed that Pakistan will continue to step up efforts to establish a dynamic democratic government. We get closer to that objective with each peaceful transfer of power and election. We act in this way because it is our people’s goal and our founding fathers’ vision, not because of concerns voiced by others.
