ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Caretaker Minister for Information Murtaza Solangi has said that there have been no directives from the government so far to suspend internet and mobile services on February 8.

Radio Pakistan reported that the Minister said that if any law-and-order situation arises anywhere in the South Asian country on polling day, the local administration and authorities will take a decision accordingly.

He asked the public to judiciously exercise their democratic right to vote as “it shows their patriotism and their love for democratic continuity in Pakistan”.

Meanwhile, the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has completed the delivery of about 260 million ballot papers for the general polls being held on Thursday in Pakistan.

A Spokesperson of the Commission said that the ECP staffers with their hard work and organized planning have completed the task in a limited time. Official media reported that the process of ballot papers delivery was completed via both ground and air means.

The spokesperson of the ECP said that all the ballot papers were handed over from government printing presses to concerned District Returning Officers.

He further said that the process faced difficulties due to inclement weather, but despite all the challenges, the ECP completed the work on time so that all voters can exercise their right to vote in an organized and efficient manner.
