ISLAMABAD: Contrary to misleading reports by Indian media that a Jaish al-Adl commander Ismail Shah Bakhsh was killed by Iranian forces on Pakistani soil, it has emerged that the incident on Pakistani soil actually did not involve Iranian forces.
The killing was rather a result of a crossfire between two smuggler groups, according to the investigation carried out this scribe. The misinformation falsely claimed the militant leader’s death by the Iranian forces when, in reality, it was the tragic outcome of a dispute among smugglers. The killing was not the outcome of a targeted military operation even.
The situation demanded accurate sources and fact-check before spreading what later turned out to be disinformation. The initial reports in this regard were distorted and sensationalized, according to the fact-check team.
It believed that promoting accurate details helps in preventing the escalation of tensions in the region and fostering a more informed public discourse.
