JENIN: Jenin was marked by significant damage from Israel’s ongoing West Bank raid, with concrete slabs and sheet metal strewn across streets. The Israeli forces raided the West Bank on Wednesday which has led to widespread destruction in the area, including collapsed walls and uprooted trees.

Residents reported severe disruptions to essential services, with water, electricity, and sewage systems rendered non-functional. “We are cut off from the world,” said Taher al-Saadi, highlighting the dire conditions in which bakeries are closed and basic supplies like milk are unavailable.

The raid, which is more extensive and prolonged than previous operations, has targeted multiple West Bank cities simultaneously. In Jenin, the violence has continued unabated, with ongoing clashes and bombings. Wisam Bakr, director of Jenin Government Hospital, described the situation as “the worst day since the start of the raid.”

The death toll has risen to 20 Palestinians, including an 82-year-old man shot by an Israeli sniper. The operation has also caused the isolation of the Jenin refugee camp, with restricted access for emergency services and journalists.

Jenin governor Kamal Abu al-Rub expressed uncertainty about conditions inside the refugee camp, which has become a focal point of the conflict.

The UN reports that at least 637 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli forces or settlers since the conflict began, while 19 Israelis have died in related attacks or operations.
