PYONGYANG: North Korea has said that military confrontation with its southern neighbor, South Korea appears to be inevitable to stop increase in hostilities between the two nations, Korean state media reported on Monday.

Under a Comprehensive Military Agreement (CMA) signed between North and South Korea in September 2018, both countries agreed to cease all hostile acts against each other.

The agreement also included ending military exercises close to the border and takings steps such as the removal of guard posts in the Demilitarized Zone.

South Korea last month had suspended part of the inter-Korean agreement and resumed aerial surveillance.

The development came in protest to Pyongyang’s successful launch of a spy satellite, which according to the South Korea violated the terms of the agreement.

The North Korea in November stated that its forces will not be bound by the agreement and vowed to restore all measures suspended in 2018.
