RAWALPINDI: The National University of Sciences & Technology (NUST) kicked off its annual convocation week at the university’s main campus in Islamabad today.
At the inaugural day of the “Master Convocation Ceremony”, Pakistan Army Chief General Syed Asim Munir, who is the Chairman of the NUST Board of Governors, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest and conferred medals to the students.
Over 3,500 graduates, Bachelor’s, Master’s, and PhD students from all NUST Schools in the seven core disciplines will be awarded degrees at the main campus throughout the convocation week.
During his address to the graduates, COAS extended his warmest congratulations to the graduates, their parents, and the faculty. He lauded NUST for creating a nurturing environment for teaching and learning fostering brilliant minds prepared to contribute to the nation.
General Asif Munir emphasized that education is not merely an option but an absolute necessity. He pointed out that this day marks the beginning of a new chapter in the students’ lives, signifying a significant change that entails increased responsibility. He stressed that this newfound responsibility should reflect in their character and choices in their future journey.
The Army Chief also noted that it is now their responsibility to identify and analyze the challenges facing the country and use their intellectual prowess to find solutions for them.
Upon his arrival at NUST, COAS was welcomed by the NUST Rector.
