OGRA Arranges Certification Programme for Drivers of LPG Bowsers

ISLAMABAD: Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) has arranged a certification programme for drivers of LPG bowsers for safe transportation of LPG.

The gas is highly inflammable, which can cause ignition and fatal accidents. The training has been arranged in collaboration with the National Logistic Cell (NLC) at Applied Technologies Institute, NLC Headquarters Corporate Office, Rawalpindi, focusing on the transportation of pressurized gases/dangerous petroleum products.

In the first batch, training of drivers from 19 LPG Marketing companies was completed at NLC Dina – Centre of Excellence.

Muhammad Arif, a Member of Gas OGRA, was the chief guest. He informed that OGRA has recently issued licenses allowing the transportation of LPG through road bowsers and advised all the LPG producers, Terminal Operators, and LPG marketing companies to ensure that the browsers owned or rented transportation of LPG comply with the standards, specifications, and safety codes (ASME Code, Section VIII(Div-I) of LPG Rules, 2001/NFPA-58 for safe handling.

Member Gas OGRA elaborated that it is the pioneer and most crucial step towards implementing practical measures in the safe transportation of LPG by emphasizing drivers’ health and adherence to all the techniques learned for the safety of self and others.

He added that OGRA had sought cooperation from all stakeholders to ensure safety as the priority to make the oil and gas sector risk frisk-firearms of the losses of precious lives and other failures to industry and materials during operational activities.
