OIC Chief Calls for Enhanced Collaboration Among OIC Universities

JEDDAH: The Secretary-General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), Hissein Brahim Taha, has called for increased collaboration among OIC universities to leverage their respective strengths.

The Secretary-General conveyed this message through Ambassador Askar Mussinov, Assistant Secretary-General for Science & Technology, during the 37th Meeting of the Governing Council of the Islamic University in Uganda (IUIU) in Kampala, Republic of Uganda.

OIC Chief Urges for Innovative Approaches to Address Financial Challenges

In his statement, the Secretary-General commended the positive strides made by IUIU in the past two years, acknowledging the university’s efforts toward recovery from the diverse impacts of the Covid-19 pandemic. He urged stakeholders to devise innovative approaches to address financial challenges, ensuring sustained growth and development.

The meeting witnessed the election of Prof. Muhammed Al-Tabtabaea from the State of Kuwait as the new Chairman of the Governing Council. Notable attendees included the Second Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Uganda, Rt. Honourable Retired General Moses Ali, Mr. Mohammed Balkhail, Executive Director of the Muslim Islamic Solidarity Fund, and Dr. Abdul Rahman Al-Zaid, Assistant Secretary-General of the World Muslim League.

The agenda covered comprehensive reports from the Rector, External Auditors, and various Council Committees. Resolutions were adopted to strengthen the administrative and academic performance of IUIU.

The university is preparing for its 32nd Graduation Ceremony, scheduled for December 9, 2023, at its main campus in Mbale, Eastern Uganda. The ceremony will see 2573 graduands from diverse disciplines receiving their awards and the official launch of the construction of the Faculty of Engineering under the IsDB phase two project.
