JEDDAH: The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) has denounced Israel for permitting a provocative march by Israeli far-right extremist groups into occupied East Jerusalem’s Old City.

The OIC said in a statement, “The march is part of unlawful and rejected attempts aimed at impinging on the existing legal and historical status of the Islamic and Christian holy sites in Al-Quds, particularly the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque”.

The statement said, “ The OIC warned of the danger of the continued Judaization plans carried out by the Israeli occupation forces in the city, including the so-called “lower canal” plan, which is recommending the construction of about 1,792 colonial units in a new colonial bloc in the eastern part of the city, within the framework of the rejected and denounced attempts to change the current historical, legal, political, and demographic status of the city, Judaizing and severing it from its Palestinian surroundings.”

The Organization of Islamic Cooperation reaffirmed that the city of Al-Quds Al-Sharif, the capital of the State of Palestine, is an essential part of the Palestinian territory occupied in 1967. The statement maintained, “The OIC rejected any steps or decisions aimed at imposing the alleged Israeli sovereignty over the city and its sanctities, as unlawful and illegal under global law and relevant UN resolutions.”

UNSC

The OIC also renewed its call on international bodies, especially the UNSC to shoulder their responsibilities and jobs to stop the current Israeli aggression on Gaza, which led to the killing of over 16,000 martyrs, the forced displacement of over 1.8 million Palestinians from their house, and the lack of shelter centers in light of the prevention of supplies of electricity, fuel, food, materials, medical and clean drinking water. It added that the most hospitals and medical centers are also out of service in Gaza.

The OIC asked the world to assume its responsibilities and jobs and exert pressure on Israel, the occupying power, to put an end to the actions of violence and organized terrorism carried out by extremist settler groups and Israeli occupation troops in the West Bank, leading to the killing of over 260 martyrs and the arrest of over 3,550 Palestinians since the seventh of last October.

Israel has imposed restrictions on Muslims entering Al-Aqsa Mosque since October 7, when they launched a military campaign against Gaza.
