JEDDAH, Saudi Arabia: A high-level delegation from the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) is currently visiting China to bolster relations between the OIC member states and the Chinese government. Invited by Beijing, the delegation was welcomed by H.E. Mr. Deng Li, Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs.
Comprising representatives from 26 OIC member states, the delegation is led by Mr. Yousef AlDobeay, Assistant Secretary-General for Political Affairs. Discussions with the Chinese officials focused on the positive trajectory of OIC-China relations and explored avenues for further cooperation in diverse areas, emphasizing mutual interests.
A significant topic of discussion was the status and welfare of the Muslim community in China. The delegation engaged with officials from the Religious Affairs Department of the United Front Work Department of the Central Committee of the Chinese Communist Party, addressing pertinent issues affecting Muslims in the region.
As part of their visit, the delegation plans to tour Tianjin and the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, aiming to assess the living conditions and welfare of the local Muslim population. This visit reflects the OIC’s commitment to understanding and addressing the concerns of Muslims globally while promoting dialogue and collaboration with China.
