JEDDAH: The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) has strongly condemned the ongoing Israeli military aggression on Lebanon since 23 September, which has killed 492 people, wounded 1645 others, and destroyed public amenities and properties.

The OIC in a statement on Tuesday said it considered this an extension of ongoing Israeli war crimes and a violation of international law and the United Nations resolutions.

The organizations also assured of its support for efforts to safeguard Lebanon’s security, sovereignty and stability over its territories, and held Israel, the occupying power, fully responsible for this dangerous escalation, which threatens the stability and security of the whole region.

The OIC called on the Security Council to fulfil its responsibility of maintaining global security and peace, to start implementation of resolution 2735 on immediate and comprehensive ceasefire in the Gaza Strip. It also asked the Security Council to intervene urgently to bring about sustainable stability in Southern Lebanon through full and comprehensive implementation of relevant Security Council resolutions, including resolution 1701 and putting an end to Israel’s occupation and its continuing violation of international law.
