JEDDAH: The preparatory meeting for the upcoming session of the Council of Foreign Ministers of OIC started in Jeddah on Sunday. The 49th session of the Council will be held in in Nouakchott, Mauritania.
Secretary-General of OIC Hissein Brahim Taha said that the Palestinian cause has seen serious challenges and was also recently discussed by the executive committee.

According to Arab news, the executive committee also discussed situation in Afghanistan. The committee recommended constant engagement with the rulers in Afghanistan through Tariq Ali Bakheet, the special ambassador for Afghanistan.
Hissein Brahim Taha said that Youssef Al-Dobeay, the special ambassador for Jammu and Kashmir and the OIC are working to executive the action plan approved by the liaison group on the issue during its meeting in Pakistan’s capital Islamabad on the sidelines of the last session of the Council of foreign ministers.

He added that the OIC is constantly supporting Azerbaijan regarding the dispute of Nagorno-Karabakh. He maintained that efforts are being made to contribute to achieving stability, peace, security, and development in Syria, Yemen, Sudan, Libya, Central African Republic, Mozambique, Guinea, Somalia and Burkina Faso. He praised all efforts to support Iraq’s territorial integrity, unity, and reconstruction.
The Secretary General of OIC said that they will continue coordinating humanitarian work in light of the current challenges.
He congratulated Mauritania for heading the 49th session and expressed his gratitude to Islamabad for its efforts in chairing the last session. He also lauded the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for its generous support of the OIC’s activities.
