OIC Reiterates Firm Support for Right of Self-determination of People of Kashmir

JEDDAH:  As 27 October 2024 marks the completion of 77 years of unlawful occupation of Jammu and Kashmir by India, the General Secretariat of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) has reiterated its complete solidarity with the people of Jammu and Kashmir in their quest for the right to self-determination, a press statement said.

It added that the General Secretariat, pursuant to the relevant decisions as well as resolutions of the Islamic Summit and Council of Foreign Ministers, reiterates its firm support to the people of Kashmir in their legitimate struggle for their fundamental human rights, including their inalienable right to self-determination, and urges India to respect the basic human rights of the people of Indian Illegally Occupied Kashmir.

The General Secretariat has also reaffirmed the urgent need for a final settlement of the Jammu and Kashmir dispute in accordance with the relevant UNSC resolutions and called again on the world to ensure the implementation of those resolutions, the statement further said.
