The Secretary-General of the (OIC) Conference (OIC) urged member states and relevant OIC institutions to step up efforts to ensure the rights of all women and girls in the science and technology, as well as to strengthen international cooperation and raise awareness about the rights of women and girls in science and technology.

The OIC’s 8th Ministerial Conference

The resolution promoting Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) Education for Women and Girls was adopted at the OIC’s 8th Ministerial Conference on Women in December 2018 in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso. The resolution “urged Member States to take legislative and executive measures to offer STEM programmes for women and girls to bridge the gap between women’s education and labour market demands, and invited Member States to cooperate and coordinate their policies and programmes in this field within the OIC.”

According to the Secretary-General, this day is an opportunity to follow up on implementing the OIC resolution to encourage full and equal access to and participation in the science for women and girls.
