JEDDAH: The Secretary-General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Hissein Brahim Taha has received a delegation of the European Parliament membership and discussed the situation in Palestine and the Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip and its dangerous implications for security and peace in the region and the world.
According to a press statement issued by the OIC, the EU delegation was led by Hannah Neuman. During the meeting, the Secretary-General of the OIC renewed his call for an end to the current Israeli military aggression on the Gaza Strip and for the revival of the peace track toward a two-state solution.
Gaza Situation
After the meeting, dialogues were held between the EU Parliament’s delegation and the OIC General Secretariat’s side, the statement added. They reviewed aspects of cooperation between the OIC and the EU and also affirmed the determination to enhance talks and cooperation in several sectors. The two sides discussed the current situation in Palestine and the Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip and its dangerous consequences for security and peace in the region and the world.
They stressed the significance of working to find a just and comprehensive solution to the Palestinian question and for a two-state solution that will guarantee stability and security in the region and the world. They also discussed the situation in Afghanistan and the significance of cooperation in the humanitarian field.
