JEDDAH: Organization of Islamic Cooperation Secretary-General Hissein Brahim Taha on Monday appreciated the OIC States Broadcasting Union’s (OSBU) efforts aimed at developing the radio and television sectors of the group’s member countries.

In his address at the opening Session of the General Assembly of the OIC States Broadcasting Union, the Secretary-General said that Saudi Arabia was great material and logistical support to upgrade the work of the Union to match the leading radio and television institutions.

He expressed deep appreciation for Saudi Minister of Information Salman bin Yousef Al-Dosari and commended his personal contributions to the development of the Union’s work.

In his recorded address during the meeting, which was organized virtually, the Secretary-General hailed the tangible efforts achieved by the Union recently, and the efforts made to develop its work further within a short span of time.

He underscored the great responsibility borne by the Union to formulate and disseminate a balanced cultural and religious discourse about Islam and Muslims, contribute to the disambiguation of Islam’s true message, and confront the successive distortion campaigns targeting the Islamic religion and its holy symbols.

Secretary-General Urges to Redouble Efforts

The Secretary-General urged the Union to redouble its efforts to provide balanced and interesting radio and television programs on the message of Islam and the Islamic peoples, to consolidate it in the minds of the Muslim youth, and to present it to non-Muslims in the most relatable and engaging Media formats.
