MANAMA: Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Hissein Brahim Taha on Thursday stressed the need to hold an international conference to address the current situation in Palestine, calling for actions at the highest level to protect the Palestinian people from the Israeli offensives, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported.

Speaking at the 33rd ordinary session of the Arab Summit hosted by Bahrain, Taha stressed the importance of taking all decisions that will help Palestinians to remain on their land.

He emphasized the need to ensure all responsibilities internationally to stop this brutal and bloody war and use all available judicial and legal means to ensure the protection of the Palestinian people.

He warmly welcomed all decisions from the United Nations regarding full membership for the State of Palestine so that the Palestinian people can enjoy all their rights just like other people of the world.

“We should view this initiative and decision positively and support it extensively,” he said.

Taha added that dialogue remains the only solution to achieve the desired peace on the ground, adding that the OIC encourages all stakeholders to start a dialogue to achieve the envisioned peace and stability throughout the Arab world.

He also stressed the unity and stability of Somalia and the necessity of fighting terrorism and extremism. He added there is a need to combat Islamophobia and hate speech, and the international community must reduce manifestations of hate speech and other related issues.

“We encourage dialogue between different civilizations and religions,” said the Secretary General.
