JEDDAH: The Secretary-General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), Hissein Brahim Taha, emphasized the critical need for successful efforts to halt the ongoing Israeli aggression against Palestinians in Gaza.

These include endorsing the recently announced proposal by US President Joe Biden for an immediate ceasefire, Israel’s withdrawal from Gaza, the release of detainees, the return of displaced persons to their homes, and ensuring uninterrupted humanitarian aid flow to Gaza.

In the statement, Taha reiterated the OIC’s stance, urging for an immediate, comprehensive, and lasting cessation of Israeli aggression in Gaza and across all occupied Palestinian territories, including Al-Quds Al-Sharif.

He emphasized the necessity for the full and unconditional withdrawal of Israeli forces from Gaza, alongside the delivery of sustained humanitarian aid and essential supplies throughout the region.

Highlighting the imperative of opening all crossings with Gaza and rejecting any attempts to expel Palestinians, Taha stressed facilitating the return of displaced individuals to their homes, establishing shelter centers, and providing essential services.

Moreover, he called for expediting Gaza’s reconstruction to pave the path for regional peace and stability, in line with the two-state solution, relevant United Nations resolutions, and the Arab Peace Initiative.
