JEDDAH: The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) will hold an Extraordinary Meeting of its Council of Foreign Ministers at the headquarters of its General Secretariat in Jeddah on March 5. The meeting aims to discuss the ongoing Israeli aggression against the Palestinian people.

The Secretary-General Hissein Brahim Taha is expected to deliver a speech at the opening session. The opening session is to be preceded by a preparatory Senior Officials Meeting (SOM) on Monday to discuss and finalize the draft agenda, work program, and resolutions to be presented to the Council of Foreign Ministers the following day.

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia previously hosted the Extraordinary Joint Arab and Islamic Summit on November 11 last year in Riyadh. The summit, jointly organized by the OIC and the League of Arab States, resulted in the adoption of several decisions, including the formation of a committee comprised of Foreign Ministers of Member States tasked with engaging world capitals and international organizations to halt the Israeli aggression against the Palestinian people.

In further efforts to stop the Israeli aggression since October 7, 2023, the OIC conducted an open-ended Executive Committee Extraordinary Meeting at the level of Foreign Ministers on October 18, 2023, at its headquarters.
