JEDDAH: The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) General Secretariat has welcomed the proposals by Azerbaijan to use the Lachin Road for medical purposes by Armenian residents and the “Aghdam-Khankendi” route for the transportation of larger cargo. These initiatives are seen as important steps towards the reintegration of the residents into Azerbaijani society.
The OIC recognizes Azerbaijan’s legitimate decisions to establish border checkpoints on its territory in response to security threats, in line with principles and norms of International Law. The General Secretariat commends Azerbaijan for its efforts to facilitate the transportation needs of the Armenian population.

OIC Urges Azerbaijan to Refrain from Provocative Actions
In response to the proposals, the OIC General Secretariat calls on Armenia to refrain from any provocative actions and instead support the utilization of the “Aghdam-Khankendi” route, as well as other routes proposed by Azerbaijan, to meet the needs of the Armenian population.
The OIC General Secretariat emphasizes the importance of moving forward on the path of peace and taking necessary steps to strengthen security and stability in the region. These initiatives by Azerbaijan are seen as positive contributions towards fostering peace and cooperation between the two nations.
