JEDDAH: The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) has welcomed the Security Council’s recent resolution, which calls for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza during the month of Ramadan.

The OIC termed the resolution a significant step taken by the international community to fulfill its responsibility in halting the ongoing Israeli aggression against the Palestinian population, which has persisted for approximately six months.

In light of this resolution, the OIC urges Israel, as the occupying authority, to promptly adhere to its provisions and ensure the swift and secure delivery of humanitarian aid to all areas within the Gaza Strip.

Moreover, the OIC has reiterated its appeal to the global community to take decisive action to halt all war crimes committed by the Israeli occupation in the occupied Palestinian territories.

These crimes include the construction of settlements, acts of violence resulting in fatalities, demolitions, forced displacements, and acts that amount to genocide against the Palestinian people.

The Security Council on Monday adopted a resolution demanding an immediate ceasefire in Gaza during the holy month of Ramadan and urged the expansion of aid into conflict-torn region. With 14 votes in favor, the resolution garnered significant international support, with the United States choosing to abstain.

Pakistan reaffirms its dedication to working towards peace and stability in the region through diplomatic channels and collective efforts at the international level.
