Staff Report

KARACHI: Pakistan’s federal government, vide ‘Gazette Notification F.No.2(1)IF-III/2010 dated December 23, 2021’, had extended the deadline for the exchange of large-size old design banknotes of Rs 1000, 100, 50, and 10 by one year.

The holders of these large size old design banknotes have been given the last chance by the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) to exchange these large size old design banknotes from the field offices of the SBP Banking Services Corporation (BSC) by December 31, 2022, according to the Central Bank’s press release on Wednesday.

Public urged to exchange old design banknotes

It is once again stressed that this is the last chance and final deadline for exchanging such banknotes; upon expiry of the given deadline, these banknotes shall no longer be exchangeable from the SBP BSC’s counters and thus will lose their value, SBP said.

The general public is, therefore, requested to take advantage of this final opportunity and get their holdings of these old design large-size banknotes exchanged from SBP BSC Field Offices by December 31, 2022, and protect the value of their savings in these banknotes.
