HYDERABAD: Ollie Pope played a stellar innings, scoring 196 as England declared their second innings at 420 all out on the fourth day in the Test against India in Hyderabad on Sunday.

The visitors set India a target of 231 runs to win the opening Test. England resumed the day at 316-6, with Pope leading the charge.

Despite facing the formidable Jasprit Bumrah, Pope displayed remarkable resilience, notching his fifth Test century. Bumrah managed to secure four crucial wickets, including the dismissal of Pope, as India sought to curtail England’s second innings.

Pope’s partnership with Ben Foakes, contributing 112 runs, added to England’s total, providing a challenging target for the Indian team. As the match enters a crucial phase, the focus now shifts to India’s batting lineup and their pursuit of victory in this tightly contested Test match.
