SRINAGAR: The recent induction of Mushaal Mullick, the wife of Muhammad Yasin Malik, into Pakistan’s federal cabinet, has sparked a response from the leadership of the National Conference and the Peoples Democratic Party.
In a show of unity, they have firmly conveyed to India that this matter is solely an internal affair of Pakistan. Both parties have emphasized that India’s concerns are unwarranted, drawing parallels with their own internal affairs.
National Conference central leader Omar Abdullah asserted that countries do not typically seek input from others when appointing their ministers. He questioned why Pakistan should be any different, highlighting that Pakistan’s ministerial appointments are purely an internal process. This stance underlines the importance of respecting the sovereignty of nations and refraining from interference in their domestic matters.
Mehbooba Mufti, another prominent leader from the Peoples Democratic Party, pointed out the differences between the cases of Mushaal Mullick and Sadhvi Pragya from India. Mufti highlighted that while Sadhvi Pragya, an accused in the Malegaon bomb blasts, managed to become a member of the Indian Parliament, Mushaal Mullick has not been involved in any criminal activities. She further reiterated that the appointment showcases Pakistan’s commitment to recognizing individuals who have worked for the betterment of Jammu and Kashmir, a region that has witnessed significant political and social dynamics.
The leadership’s remarks underscore the notion that Pakistan’s decision to include Mushaal Mullick in its cabinet is a reflection of its internal dynamics and priorities. By openly expressing their views, the leaders aim to emphasize that such appointments are a demonstration of Pakistan’s sovereignty, much like any other country’s decisions regarding its own cabinet.
