BAKU: A series of awareness events on “Ensuring Citizens’ Electoral Rights” is continued in Baku, Ganja, Sheki, Masalli, Guba, and Nakhchivan, organized jointly by the Office of the Commissioner for Human Rights (Ombudsman) and the Central Election Commission of Azerbaijan ahead of the presidential election.
Ombudsman Sabina Aliyeva conducted observations in recently liberated territories, including Khankendi, Shusha, and Lachin. The focus was on assessing the overall electoral process, from voter list preparation to ensuring voting rights.
During her visit, the Ombudsman also engaged with citizens who returned to their native lands, discussing electoral processes, voter rights, and related concerns.
It’s noteworthy that necessary legal conditions have been established for citizens in the liberated territories to exercise their electoral rights. The upcoming presidential election holds significance as it will be the first held across the entire country, including the recently freed lands.
A total of 26 polling stations have been established in these areas to facilitate voting for those involved in reconstruction and those who have returned to their homes, as stated in the report.
