SINGAPORE: Singapore Airlines said that a Boeing 777 aircraft encountered severe turbulence during its journey from London to Singapore on Tuesday, which left a person dead and multiple others injured.
“We can confirm that there are injuries and one fatality on board the Boeing 777-300ER. There were a total of 211 passengers and 18 crew on board,” the airline said in a statement on Facebook.
The statement didn’t specify the extent of injuries or whether the person who died was a passenger or crew member.
The flight, designated SQ321, departed from London’s Heathrow Airport and was diverted to Bangkok, where it landed at 3:45 pm local time on Tuesday.
Singapore Airlines is collaborating with Thai authorities to offer necessary medical aid and is dispatching a support team to Bangkok to provide further assistance.
