SRINAGAR: The Indian illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) is the highest militarized zone in the world as more than 1 million Indian forces are engaged in brutally suppressing the Kashmiri people’s movement for the right to self-determination.

Brutal militarization has resulted in a humanitarian crisis in the valley as it is under the siege of Indian forces since New Delhi illegally landed its forces in Srinagar on October 27, 1947, according to a report released by the Kashmir Media Service on Monday.

It said the Hurriyat leadership has been kept in prisons while Indian troops have detained thousands of Kashmiris, mostly youth, under black laws, including the Unlawful Preventive Act and Public Safety Act.

The report said that no nation could be ruled by force for long, which is why Kashmiris are continuing to fight for their fundamental right to self-determination while the extremist Hindu organization, Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), the Modi government was depriving the Kashmiri people of all their basic rights.

It said by curbing the peaceful political movement and activities of Kashmiris, New Delhi cannot change the disputed status of the valley through its heavy military presence and brutalities under brutal acts and black laws. The Modi regime and its non-Kashmiri police and bureaucracy of Hindutva ideology cannot subdue Kashmiris through its anti-Kashmir and military might.

Kashmir an Open-air Prison

The report said Indian troops had made the IIOJK a giant open-air prison for its residents, adding Kashmiris’ plight had increased on an unprecedented scale since August 5, 2019, when Modi-led Hindutva regime repealed the special status of Kashmir and imposed a military siege there.

The report added that the current political situation in the valley and the arbitrary imprisonment of its youth and leaders call for the attention of global human rights organizations unless the Kashmir problem is resolved according to the will of Kashmiris and the resolutions of the United Nations (UN), durable peace cannot be established in South Asia.
