GAZA CITY: The Health Ministry in the Gaza Strip on Monday reported that at least 23,084 Palestinian people, mostly women and children, had been killed in the ongoing Israeli bombardments since October 7. The ministry’s statement revealed that within the past 24 hours alone, 249 Palestinians were killed, while a total of 58,926 people had been injured in the Gaza Strip during the more than three months of relentless Israeli attacks.

The situation in Gaza remains dire, with continuous Israeli strikes taking a severe toll on the civilian population. The Gaza Health Ministry’s data highlights the disproportionate impact on women and children, underscoring the devastating consequences of the prolonged conflict.

Meanwhile, Jordan’s King Abdullah expressed profound concern, asserting that Israel’s “brutal” bombardment of Gaza has created a generation of orphans. He reported that over 30,000 people, mostly women and children, have been killed or are missing as a result of the conflict.

King Abdullah made these remarks at the Kigali Genocide Memorial in Rwanda, drawing parallels between the “unspeakable crimes” during the African conflict and the current situation in Gaza.

Pope Francis Deplores Events in Gaza and Ukraine

Pope Francis, in his annual address to diplomats, condemned the “indiscriminate striking” of civilians as a war crime, emphasizing that such actions violate international humanitarian law. He pointed to events in Ukraine and Gaza as clear proof of the indiscriminate impact on civilian populations during conflicts.

The Pope called for greater efforts from the international community to defend and implement humanitarian law, stressing its pivotal role in ensuring the defense of human dignity in times of warfare.

On the geopolitical front, Hezbollah, the Lebanese armed group, declared that it will not engage in discussions related to cross-border clashes with Israel until the Israeli aggression against Gaza ceases.

Sheikh Ali Damoush, deputy chairman of Hezbollah’s executive council, underscored the deepening Israeli predicament and urged an end to the aggression, emphasizing that the longer it persists, the more exhausted the enemy becomes on both the Gaza and Lebanon fronts.
