HASSANABADAL: A total of 2,668 Sikh pilgrims from India arrived at the Gurdwara Panja Sahib in Hassanabdal, Pakistan, for the annual Baisakhi Mela celebrations. The pilgrims were brought to the gurdwara under police escort and were welcomed with tight security arrangements and comfortable accommodations.
During the visit, the pilgrims expressed their gratitude to the Pakistani government for making foolproof security and accommodation arrangements. They also highlighted the importance of having Wi-Fi access inside the Gurdwara Panja Sahib so they could stay connected with their loved ones.
The Sikh pilgrims took part in various religious ceremonies and rituals during their visit, including a palanquin procession and the Nagar Ketan celebration, where they sang hymns and songs in praise of their religion.
Arrangements for Sikh pilgrims
The District Police Officer of Attock, Dr. Sardar Ghiyas Gul Khan, personally visited the Gurdwara Panja Sahib to review the security arrangements and instructed his staff to ensure that the Sikh pilgrims were treated with utmost respect and care.
RPO Rawalpindi Khurram Shah, DPO Attock Dr. Sardar Ghiyas Gul Khan, SP Investigation Attock Jawaria Muhammad Jameel, ASP Sundus Ishaq, and DSP Syed Kazim Shah also visited the Gurdwara Panja Sahib to oversee the security arrangements and ensure the safety of the pilgrims.
The pilgrims also visited Vali Kandahari, a revered site for the Sikh community, where they fulfilled their wishes and experienced a sense of peace and contentment.
Overall, the Baisakhi Mela celebrations proved to be a successful and peaceful event, with the Sikh pilgrims expressing their gratitude for the warm welcome and hospitality they received from the Pakistani government and its people.
