SRINAGAR: The Hindutva BJP regime’s oppressive tactics in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) have led to the arbitrary booking of over 41,300 individuals, including prominent APHC leaders, since 2015.

A report by Kashmir Media Service sheds light on the rampant arrests, primarily targeting Hurriyat leaders, political figures, activists, journalists, and human rights defenders under draconian laws like the Public Safety Act (PSA) and the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA).

The list of detained leaders includes Masarrat Aalam Butt, Muhammad Yasin Malik, and Aasiya Andrabi, among others, many of whom are held in Indian prisons outside the territory.

Moreover, the report highlights the alarming toll of injuries inflicted by Indian forces, with over 33,150 individuals suffering injuries from brute force, bullets, pellets, and tear gas shells.

The indiscriminate use of pellets and PAVA ammunition has left over a hundred youths with either partial or complete loss of eyesight.

The report underscores the stark contrast in legal treatment faced by Kashmiris, emphasizing the need for international attention to the injustices perpetuated by the Indian judiciary.

As Kashmiris continue their decades-long struggle for justice and self-determination, as promised by the United Nations, the ongoing repression in IIOJK remains a grave humanitarian concern.
