MAKKAH MUKARMA: In a remarkable display of empowerment and recognition, more than 50 accomplished Pakistani women from diverse professional backgrounds are serving and supporting Pakistani Hajj pilgrims in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

Their involvement exemplifies the increasing role of Pakistani women in important positions and enriches the nation’s representation in Hajj affairs.

These extraordinary women, part of the Pakistan Hajj Mission, hold significant leadership roles, demonstrating their competence and dedication. They play a vital part in ensuring a seamless and fulfilling experience for potential pilgrims on their sacred journey.

These women work in various divisions of the Mission’s Main Control Office (MCO) in Makkah Mukarma. Despite the intense heat, they bravely fulfill their responsibilities as Haram Guides at numerous exit points of the Grand Masjid, assisting and guiding prospective Hajj pilgrims.

Moreover, female doctors and paramedics are making essential contributions by providing free medical assistance to prospective pilgrims participating in both private and government Hajj programs in Saudi Arabia.

Mehreen Baloch, Deputy Director of Complaints and Discipline at MCO, Makkah, stated that the Hajj mission for 2023 is a meticulously organized endeavor due to its intricate nature, vast scale, and delicate requirements. She highlighted that the women are actively participating in the precisely organized Hajj mission as “Muavineen e Hujjaj” (female pilgrim assistants).

This recognition is granted considering the significant involvement of over 34,000 female pilgrims from Pakistan, demonstrating the pivotal role performed by women in various fields of the country. Baloch mentioned that female “Muavineen” are designated as Haram guides along the roads to and from different entry and exit points of Masjid-al-Haram. Adorned in green jackets bearing the Pakistani flag, these Pakistani women are an indispensable part of the Hajj Mission, symbolizing the nation’s progressive attitude.

She further highlighted that a notable feature of this mission is the multifaceted participation of female “Muavineen e Hujjaj” in numerous leadership positions within the Main Control Office (MCO), which serves as the central hub of the Hajj Mission, as well as in field formations across all eight sectors.
