Over 500 Security Personnel Serving Grand Mosque Visitors During Ramadan

MAKKAH: The General Presidency of the Affairs of the Two Holy Mosques, represented by the Agency for Safety, Security, Confrontation of Emergencies and Risks, has assigned more than 500 security personnel to serve visitors of the Grand Mosque during the holy month of Ramadan.

The move aims to preserve and protect the main entrances, regulate crowds, manage safety means, and prepare corridors leading to Tawaf.

The Presidency is keen to receive pilgrims upon their arrival, provide necessary services from the Grand Mosque courtyards and entrances until their exit.

The under-secretary of the General President of the Safety, Security, Confrontation of Risks Affairs and Emergencies, Fayez Al-Harthy, stated that the agency is conducting various tasks through qualified and trained national cadres.

These include early detection of risks, ensuring the effectiveness of fire extinguishing systems, and following up on periodic maintenance, among others.

Safety checks at Grand Mosque

Moreover, the cadres perform safety checks on public utility systems, apply the weather fluctuation plan, and ensure pedestrian safety. They also remove all obstacles that impede the movement of pilgrims during their rituals.

In addition, the agency has over 15 security observers who speak different languages to serve visitors in the best possible way, confirmed Al-Harthy. These languages include Chinese, Sinhalese (Sri Lankan), Urdu, Hausa, Persian, English, and Turkish.

The agency also monitor the progress of safety and security operations to protect individuals and ensure the public’s safety.

The aim is to provide an atmosphere of tranquility and peace during the holy month of Ramadan.
