MULTAN: The defending champions, Lahore Qalandars, are eager to secure their first victory in the ninth season of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) as they take on the table-topping Multan Sultans this Wednesday evening. The match is scheduled to commence at 7pm.

For Qalandars, enhancing their fielding performance is imperative if they aspire to emerge victorious tonight. Additionally, their bowling unit, led by skipper Shaheen Afridi, has been underwhelming. Despite a commendable batting display, where they posted 195 runs against Islamabad in the season opener, their bowling faltered, allowing Shadab Khan and Agha Salman to seize the momentum with an unbeaten 138-run partnership after claiming early wickets.

In their subsequent encounter against Quetta Gladiators, Lahore once again faced bowling woes, conceding a challenging total despite a solid batting effort. Unfortunately, lapses in fielding further compounded their woes, with crucial dropped catches aiding Quetta’s victory by five wickets.

Meanwhile, Multan Sultans have enjoyed a flawless start to the season, winning both their matches and currently leading the points table with four points.

Probable line-ups:

Multan Sultans: Mohammad Rizwan, Dawid Malan, Reeza Hendricks, Khushdil Shah, Iftikhar Ahmed, Yasir Khan, David Willey, Usama Mir, Abbas Afridi, Mohammad Ali, Shahnawaz Dahani

Lahore Qalandars: Sahibzada Farhan, Fakhar Zaman, Rassie van der Dussen, Abdullah Shafique, Jahandad Khan, Sikandar Raza, Carlos Brathwaite, Shaheen Afridi, Salman Fayyaz, Haris Rauf, Zaman Khan.
