Oversight Board Meeting to Review Post-Flood Recovery Activities Held

Islamabad: The 2nd meeting of the Policy & Strategy Committee/Oversight Board for Post-Flood Resilient, Recovery, Rehabilitation, and Reconstruction Framework (4RF) activities convened under the leadership of the caretaker Federal Minister for Planning Development & Special Initiatives, Muhammad Sami Saeed, in Islamabad on Friday.

This gathering witnessed the participation of distinguished officials, including the Minister for Planning of Gilgit Baltistan, the Secretary of Planning, the Secretary of Economic Affairs Division (EAD), the Chief Secretary of Gilgit Baltistan, the Country Director of the World Bank, the Country Director of the Asian Development Bank (ADB), the Country Director of the European Union Islamabad, the Deputy Resident Director of UNDP, and representatives from the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA). Furthermore, Chief Minister Baluchistan and Secretaries from various provinces actively engaged via video conferencing.

The meeting delved into several critical aspects of the 4RF projects, with a primary focus on streamlining project implementation and assessing the status of approved projects from different provinces. Secretary Planning, Awais Manzur Sumra, delivered a comprehensive overview of the progress, emphasizing the urgency of accelerating implementation and financial arrangements with the Federal RRU.

Minister Muhammad Sami Saeed underscored the government’s unwavering commitment to supporting and facilitating donor agencies throughout the implementation and completion of these vital projects. He urged all relevant institutions to expedite the approval of pending PC-1s for the 4RF projects.

During this productive meeting, donor agencies applauded the Ministry of Planning for its diligent oversight and monitoring of 4RF projects and their execution. Furthermore, they expressed their dedication to continuing support for these projects in the future.

This second Oversight Board meeting signifies a significant step toward bolstering post-flood resilience, recovery, rehabilitation, and reconstruction. The government’s dedication, combined with the ongoing support of donor agencies, highlights the collective commitment to the well-being and sustainable development of the affected regions.
