ISLAMABAD: The memorial flag of the 70th anniversary of diplomatic ties between Pakistan and China which was carried into space, displayed at an exhibition in China. The exhibition was held in the West Hall of the National Museum of China.

It featured an impressive collection of items that highlighted China’s success in the field of space exploration. The commemorative flag attracted great interest from the visitors. The flag was carried into space by the Shenzhou-12 spacecraft on 17 June 2021, and spent 3 months orbiting the earth’s planet before returning to the surface. It serves as a great reminder of China’s diplomatic relations with Pakistan.

Since the 1990s, Pakistan and China have had strong cooperation in terms of space collaboration. It started with Chinese help in the launch of the first satellite of Pakistan, Badr-1.

Space exploration agreements

In 2019, both countries signed several space explorations accords at the second BRI Forum, including an agreement paving the way for Pakistan’s first astronaut to go to space. These accords also created a framework for joint ventures in space and the development of Sino-Pakistani space committees. –APP
