ISLAMABAD/BEIJING: A center dedicated to China-Pakistan trade and investment cooperation was unveiled by Pakistan’s Ambassador to China, Moin ul Haque at a ceremony in Shenzhen province of China.

Located at the Shenzhen Hi-tech Park, “the center covers an area of around 4000 sqm with an investment of RMB 30 million. The center is estimated to start operation in May,” Jian Peng, Pakistan’s honorary investment counselor in China, told China Economic Net (CEN).

Jian noted the center would act as a permanent showroom for Pakistan, with several functions to promote bilateral partnership. “It will primarily serve the purposes of displaying Pakistani commodity, distribution channel development, and commercial liaison establishment,” he added.

The honorary investment counselor added that the platform would also be “a window” to show Pakistani history, culture, and art and “a bridge” for the people of the two friendly countries to communicate with each other.

Center to facilitate bilateral trade

It is learned that the investment and trade center will be jointly operated by the Pakistani consulate in Guangzhou, the commercial sections of the Pakistani embassy in China, and Chinese operators.

In a post on Weibo, the Pakistani embassy said that the center will be “a significant platform for strengthening Pak-China economic ties.”

The launching ceremony was also attended by Sardar Muhammad, Head of Mission/Acting Consul General of Consulate General of Pakistan in Guangzhou; Ghulam Qadir, Commercial Counselor in the Embassy of Pakistan; Rabbia Nasir, Third Secretary of the Embassy; and Muhammad Irfan, Commercial Counselor of Consulate General of Pakistan in Guangzhou.
