Pak-sponsored Kashmir Resolution at UN ‘a Beacon of Hope’, Munir Akram

UNITED NATIONS: Pakistan’s ambassador to the United Nations (UN) Munir Akram said on Friday that the Pakistani-sponsored resolution adopted by a UN panel on Thursday is a “beacon of hope”, as it upholds the right to self-determination for people of the Illegally Indian-Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK). 

He said that the wide sponsorship and unanimous support for the resolution is a beacon of hope for the brave people of IIOKJ who are fighting for their freedom.

72 Countries Sponsor Resolution

The resolution, introduced by Pakistan and sponsored by 72 countries was adopted with one voice in the UN General Assembly’s Third Committee which deals with humanitarian, cultural and human rights resolutions.

It is expected that the resolution would be endorsed by the General Assembly in December. — APP
