Pak-US Ties Vital for Regional Security, Stability: President Biden

WASHINGTON: US President Joe Biden has said Washington will continue to stand with Islamabad to tackle the most pressing international and regional challenges of the time.

The US President was talking to Pakistan’s envoy to the US Rizwan Saeed Sheikh who presented his credentials to him in Washington DC. According to state-run Radio, President Biden stated that the ties between the two nations remain important for regional security and stability.

He added that they appreciate US-Pakistan cooperation on countering terrorist threats. The US President also noted Islamabad and Washington share a desire to build upon their bilateral relations and strengthen their relationships.

Biden said both the countries stand united in the face of key challenges posed by regional security threats, climate change, and global health security. He added that they should continue highlighting common interests in trade, investment, security, economic growth, the US-Pakistan ‘Green Alliance’ framework and prosperity.

On the occasion, Ambassador Rizwan Saeed Sheikh stated that Pakistan is ready to enhance further its trade with the US and absorb US investments in alternative energy, industry, green technology, higher education, digital platforms, and other areas of mutual benefit.

He also emphasized the significant role being played by Pakistan’s large and dynamic diaspora community in the US, terming them a bridge between the two nations.

He further said that Pakistan and the US have a rich legacy of cooperative ties and have laid multiple foundations to strengthen bilateral relations.
