Pakistan: 3.8 Magnitude Quake Jolts Kalat, Balochistan

QUETTA: An earthquake measuring 3.8 on the Richter scale has jolted Kalat and its adjoining areas in Balochistan, Pakistan on late Friday night, a local television reported.

As per media reports, people came out of their house in panic and started reciting verses from the Holy Quran. However, no loss of life and property was reported from any part of Kalat and adjacent areas due to quake.

National Seismic Monitoring Centre, Islamabad stated that the epicenter of the quake was located 20 kilometres south of Kalat at the depth of 5 kilometres.

Earlier, a quake with a magnitude of 3.2 on the Richter scale was reported in the Bela area of Balochistan on November 4. The quake’s epicenter was located about 16 kilometers north of Bela, at a depth of 22 km, local media reported. As per media reports, there have been no news of any loss of life or property damage due to the quake. As per media reports, the area has experienced earthquakes in the past.
