Pakistan Academy of Letters Plans to Establish Literary Museum

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Academy of Letters (PAL) is working on establishing the country’s first-ever language-based museum on Pakistani languages in order to promote and protect the unique and significant literary assets of all the regional languages of Pakistan.

For the establishment of the project, the government institute engaged linguists and literary experts from across the country for this literary museum.

Literary Museum of Pakistani Languages

Director PAL, Asim Butt said that this project is titled “Literary Museum of Pakistani Languages” PAL which will provide information about all the regional languages being spoken in every corner of the country.

This literary museum will display literature of languages in the form of booklets, scripts, audio files, and video documentaries.

Butt further said that this museum will highlight hidden narratives, untouched culture, and historical phases of multilayered national, and local norms and values of the literature.

This initiative of PAL would play a boosting role to attract scholars, students, tourists, and guests from Pakistan and abroad, in order to explore the local and civilizational culture, literature, and linguistics.

Literature and linguistic preservation museum initiative

Besides other initiatives for the preservation and promotion of the unique linguistic, literature, and cultural tastes of Pakistan, this literary museum will act as a baseline for the preservation and promotion of Pakistani historical linguistics and literature, Butt added.

Director PAL said that this initiative will help visitors, scholars, guests, and students from foreign and Pakistan to explore and seek information about history, scripts, and alphabetical data information, folk tales, linguistic norms, and significant literature of regional and local languages of Pakistan.

Location of literary museum in Pakistan

Asim Butt said that the literature museum is being established on the premises of Pakistan Academy of Letters in Islamabad and the initial work on the literature museum has been started.

Government of Pakistan has released the funds for the project and the completion of the project is projected to be next year. – APP
